Paper Princess (The Royals #1) and Broken Prince (The Royals #2) by Erin Watt
Ella Harper is one tough cookie. With only her watch on she is torn from her ugly life by a stranger, a man who claims to be her guardian. After the loss of her mother she is truly alone and with no one to trust and no idea who her father is, Ella has to choose fight or flight!
One thing is for sure, these Royals will ruin you…
I fell for Ella from the word go. Her dream to live an extremely ordinary life and her willingness to fight for it shocked me. I haven’t picked up a book which is about more than just love for a while. I admired Ella’s character for knowing what she wanted and for being so determined to get it. Ella didn’t expect anything from anyone and I felt for her immediately. It was clear she had never been given very much and that the world had not been kind to her, but her fight encouraged you to cheer her on.
For me it was obvious Ella would fall in love with a Royal but I must admit I did not expect it to be Reed. I have just finished book 2, (book 3 is in the post!), and I still haven’t warmed to Reeds character. I do however feel that Reed’s character is the most realistic. This is probably why he is my least favourite as I like to live in my perfect fantasy! Second to Ella, Easton (Brother Three of the Royals) is who I fell for next. Whilst reading I kept hoping Ella would fall for Easton’s charms. Out of all the Royal brothers Easton is the most down to earth and warms to Ella pretty quickly. He has an adorable whit to him and wooed me! After reading both books I can say Easton’s brotherly relationship with Ella has become my favourite story-line. I think the brotherly bond between the Royals is incredibly honest and it had me up on my feet cheering at points!
Other than Reed referring to Ella as ‘my girl’, this irritated me; I loved both books and cannot wait for book 3 to get here! The Cliff-hanger at the end of book 2 is a real game changer!
I rate both books at 4 ★
These books helped me enjoy reading again and for that I am so grateful! Book 4 is due to be released later this year!
